Papa Murphy’s New Store Design Innovates With Touchless Buying
Welcome a New Papa Murphy’s Experience
The COVID-19 pandemic revolutionized the quick service restaurant, or QSR, space. Delivery apps took off, as did curbside pickup and on-premises sanitizing stations. Many of these adaptations are here to stay, and Papa Murphy’s incorporated additional consumer safeguards into its new store design.
“When we began work on our ‘Kitchen Delite’ concept, we wanted to create a wraparound customer experience,” says Shemar Pucel, Senior Director of Franchise Development. “That meant everything from letting them get ‘up close and personal’ with the team as their pizza was being made, to creating ways for them to have a completely touch-free experience.”
New store design lets consumers choose their experience
The new Papa Murphy’s pizza franchise footprint has a dedicated area for people who want to order ahead. When they come in, their pizza is ready to go in a separate Quick Pick-Up area, so they can get in and out. There are also a variety of prepared pizzas available, so that consumers can pick up one of those if they’re not looking to customize their order.
Customers can also pay for their pizzas through the MySLICE loyalty app, further removing them from having to make contact with surfaces while in the store. Each franchise also has touchless payment pads as well for those who have not paid ahead of time. It’s all designed to make any Papa Murphy’s franchise customer feel safe and welcomed, which drives repeat visits and boosts revenues, Pucel explains.
A fun, friendly atmosphere that drives repeat business
“The big difference between Papa Murphy’s and other brands in the pizza space is that with us, you not only get to customize your pizza, but you also then get to take it with you and bake it at home, hot and fresh out of your own oven,” she says. “We wanted that differentiation to carry over into every aspect of the visit. So now you can step up to the counter and speak with a team member as they build your pizza, or do everything ahead of time and pop in and out.”
That dedication to experience is paying huge dividends for Papa Murphy’s as a brand, and for its franchise owners. In addition to being named one of America’s favorite restaurants by Newsweek, Papa Murphy’s continues to see strong growth across the country as communities reopen after the pandemic.
