Papa Murphy’s Initiatives Keeps Employee Satisfaction High
Engaging workplace and enthusiastic customers create a fun job
As the U.S. economy continues to strengthen, the job market is becoming tight. It’s especially hard in the food-service sector, where good employees are snapped up as soon as they become available. Thankfully, Papa Murphy’s take-and-bake pizza franchise owners have an advantage with employee retention in the restaurant industry. We take pride in our high employee satisfaction.
“Who doesn’t want a fun job? Everyone wants a workplace that’s fun to be in, and lets them grow and learn,” says Shemar Pucel, Senior Director of Franchise Development. “Papa Murphy’s is that kind of place. Many people come to work at Papa Murphy’s as a first job, or part-time job, and wind up moving into management and, in some cases, even purchasing their own franchise location.”
Benefits outstrip competition and retain staff
Papa Murphy’s is very aware of the national labor shortage. Our brand is taking steps to make its workplace more inviting, with industry-leading wages, tipping, and available benefits, that soon also will include an educational foundation.
“We have an intranet support tool, Papa Murphy’s University, for owners that helps them and their teams with online learning, so we are building on that,” Pucel says. “We want to create scholarships and other vehicles to support employees on their educational journeys and keep them connected to the Papa Murphy’s family.”
Revamped store design creates crew member enthusiasm
Papa Murphy’s also has rolled out a new store design footprint. It was created with a lot of input from franchise owners and their teams, and reflects the workplace they wanted to be in.
“Our ‘Kitchen Delite’ open design lets customers interact more closely with the Papa Murphy’s pizza franchise team, which makes it more fun for everyone,” Pucel says. “It’s an enjoyable, collaborative experience instead of a boring transaction. That helps them learn about good customer service, and how the business works. That helps them get a good foundation for other pursuits they may undertake, and they are as loyal to Papa Murphy’s as our millions of customers.”
Papa Murphy’s take and bake pizza franchises is a low-cost investment opportunity, offering high growth potential. Join this dynamic brand as we expand our footprint across the United States. Initial investment costs range from $308,469 to $557,879. This depends on numerous factors, including geographic areas, condition of the premises, and construction costs. We have grown to more than 1,200 locations thanks to a business model built for passionate entrepreneurs.
